CURATORS and CONSULTANTS

Aniko Berta

I work at the Medical School of the University of Pécs, where for years I was in charge of the office responsible for representing students’ interests. It has always been a pleasure for me to see how Pécs has become a second home to foreign students studying at our faculty over the years. I have always felt obliged to acquaint them with the city, its residents and to involve them in local activities. I do believe in local initiations and in the strength of civil work.

Istvan Fazekas

I earned my degree in computer engineering and cultural management in Pécs. I have worked at the
Round World Foundation in Pécs for 22 years as communications manager. The foundation focusses on special needs children and adults. I am also a volunteer at the I won’t give up! Foundation in Budapest. Due to my work, I have met many fellow special needs citizens and have become acquainted with various life situations. In the course of my activities my priority is to shape the integration and inclusivity of my fellow special needs community.

David Felcser

I am a curator of the Pécs Community Foundation, co-owner of the enterprise Kiraly-Nappali and the manager of Bar Nappali-Restaurant Reggeli. Based on my experiences gained both abroad and at home I can say that community foundations are able to provide solutions to many problems that cannot be handled either by the self-government of the city or by single civil initiations. To be a fan of our hometown is a kind of tradition in my family, taking part in its revival is a duty for me. Having worked ten years in the hospitality industry, prioritizing eco-friendly and ethical guidelines I offer my expertise in questions related to sustainability and KKV management.

Terez Kleisz, Dr

I was involved in teaching and researching sociology and culture mediation at the University of Pécs and participated in the international programme “Learning city- Learning region”. I wish to contribute to the birth of novel community initiatives and cooperation, despite the different cultural perspectives, languages and organizational cultures that each community has.

These community initiatives increase the democratic quality of “Pécs life” to create better life chances. To achieve this, an excellent framework is provided by the community foundation platform along with the immense knowledge provided by the movement, which has a 100-year-old tradition.

Eva Knyihar

I earned my degree in social work at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Humanities, Dept. of Social Work and Politics. I have worked in the field of community culture since 1994 organizing social events. Since the beginning (2004) I have been an active member of the Hungarian Voluntary Network initiated by the Voluntary Centre Foundation. The network places an emphasis on the popularization of voluntary work. As a trainer I work mainly on developing the non-profit sector. My special expertise involves voluntary management along with the expansion and further development associated with public initiatives.

Working in the field of community development I am convinced of our ability to build solid communities and therefore to create the conditions of a more liveable “Pécs life”.

Csilla Parag, Dr

As an economist I come from the private sector where I worked in senior management and later, I worked in my own business. I joined the Pécs Community Foundation in 2017. In addition to the fact that I have encountered many new things and have learnt a lot in the past three years, I was also able to use my previously gained knowledge in the civil sector.

To the efficient performance of a non-profit organization a professional operation is needed. One of my major tasks is to ensure this. Our organization is involved in fundraising and allocating grants. Over the past years we have managed to carry out some successful fundraising campaigns using effective, international practices. Within the campaigns I held a leading, coordination role.

Erika Ligetfalvi

have worked as an economist in the monetary sector for over 25 years, since 2010 as a financial planner. My primary task is to create financial security for my clients and help them reach their goals. Awareness, transparency, credibility and flexibility play an immense role in the rushing and unpredictable world of our days. It is important to be conscious in all fields of life including our own financial matters in which we may lack the time, energy or knowledge.
I am an expert in exploring the risk elements of corporate management and in the timely planning of economy. These are the fields where I can be of assistance with my expertise and financial experience. I do my best to orientate those who trust me in the world of finances.
I joined the Pécs Community Foundation because they formulate objectives that I consider of great value. To me, Pécs means my youth, my present and my future as well and I would like to make this future more liveable, more beautiful and more humane.

Tamas Szep

I am a curator of the Pécs Community Foundation, co-owner of Kiraly-Nappali Ltd and manager of the Bar Nappali, Restaurant Reggeli and Hostel Sun.

I have worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years, in my own enterprises I am mostly interested in the cultural and social aspects of hospitality.

Both Nappali and Reggeli function as public spaces beside serving quality meals and drinks to the guests and offering them a wide range of cultural events as well.

I like visiting places that have a similar mentality both in Budapest and abroad, and I have been to several places, cafés, public spaces and concert halls that have inspired me greatly.

I endeavour to actively participate in the cultural and civil life of Pécs and to contribute to make Pécs a better and more liveable city.

Laszlo Tistyan, Dr

He earned his degree from Law School and his degree in sociology at ELTE. He worked first at the Medical University of Pécs as a sociologist and then along with his colleagues at the university in 1991 he founded the Institute Fact doing sociology-related research. He is the chair of the institute even today. During his work at the university he participated in several, health-related sociological research projects. Based on these experiences he focussed on the social aspects of well-being. In the middle of the 90’s with his colleague and business partner, Zsuzsanna Füzesi, MD he worked out a model that served the development of community-based health and life quality. The model was implemented in practice over a decade, in almost 400 Hungarian settlements and was brought to life with the support of the Soros Foundation. The programme, known as “health-plan” was implemented and taken over by the health-care government in the mid 2000’s and since then the model has been applied in several versions, it is, even today, adopted mainly to form and shape behaviour towards health. Following the experiences gained during the joint work with the Soros Foundation, to further improve the model, Laszlo Tistyan began to focus on certain aspects of communities, with the questions of community planning, social autonomy and the relationship between individuals and communities. His experiences gained in the latter topics were applied in numerous regional development concepts with regards to the local society.
